Does your Dreamweaver CS3 crash while opening? Right when the splash screen is loading… poof it disappears? You’re not alone!!! Mine decided to do this today.
There is a bunch of info out there about the 8.00 KB (8kb) (8,192 bytes) Dreamweaver crash. Most of that info will probably confuse you, so here is the easy way to fix your splash screen crash problem:
- Go to the Start Menu and go to Search>For Files or Folders>All File and Folders
In the “All or part of the file name” box type *.css- Let it search, and when it’s done click “size” at the top of the list to arrange
- Scroll to the 8KB section.
- Right click on each 8KB file & find one with 8,192 bytes size (Last one edited w/DW CS3?)
- When you find the correct one, Right click and “Open with” Notepad
- Add a css comment /* – Cool File Size Changing Comment – */ somewhere in the file
- Save the file
Your Dreamweaver CS3 should no longer crash while opening. Now get back to work you slacker!

Hi, my Dreamweaver keeps crashing at startup. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice already. I tried this size thing and I have nothing on my computer relating to dreamweaver files or sites. There has to be another way to fix this! It’s driving me up the wall with frustration! Help! Could u please email me some solutions.
